LONDON (dpa-AFX) – Considering the declining number of corona cases, Great Britain is already reducing the number of staff accused of monitoring victims’ contacts. “We are working to ensure that our services are well worth the money and we are also monitoring the number of cases that have an impact on our operations,” a Health Ministry spokesman said when asked on Friday. Earlier, broadcaster Sky News reported on the upcoming job cuts, which, according to research, could come in early March.
As the number of cases increased, new records were created for testing and follow-up, and the response to the drop in new infections is now, the Ministry of Health said. It is not clear how many jobs should be saved. From the beginning of the epidemic the British test system was observed with repeated fractures, for example people had to travel hundreds of kilometers for a single test. Most recently, however, more than 93 percent of victims’ contacts have been identified and reported, according to official data.
The number of new infections in Great Britain has been declining for a few weeks, but it is still at an all-time high. Last week there were nearly 132 new infections in the country per 100,000 citizens. / Sway / dp / men
