“Ringing in the New Year with Old time Music”
Saturday January 17 at the Hagood Mill Historic Site & Folklife Center
Come join the friends of the
Pickens County Museum as “Music in the Mountains 2009”
kicks off the new year with the Hagood Mill playing host for a free, foot-stomping old time music
concert and jam, Saturday, January 17 from 11:00 until 3:00 in the Visitor Building at the Hagood
Mill. Hosted byBob Buckingham and featuring members of the Blue Ridge Rounders and the
Long Mountain Ramblers
Seating is limited and first come, first seated. The site will be open from 10:00 until 4:00 with the
old gristmill running and a variety of folklife demonstrations.
Hagood Mill operates just as it has for the last century-and-a-half. In the old mill, fresh stoneground
corn meal, grits and wheat flour will be available, as well as Hagood Mill cookbooks and a
variety of other mill related items.
The Hagood Mill hosts a variety of folklife and traditional arts demonstrations each month,
including(and others), this is sure to be a buffet of delicious mountain music.blacksmithing, bowl-digging, flintknapping, chair-caning, moonshining, broommaking,
quilting
instrument building
the day.
There promises to be lots to do and lots of fun! So, head on out, grab a plate of
