The Oconee Heritage Center will be hosting the 4th Annual Oconee Christmas Traditions program at the museum on the 6th of December from 2:00 until 4:00 pm. The theme for this year’s program will be “An Appalachian Christmas” featuring residents from the mountainous parts of Oconee County. These honored guests will be sharing memories of Christmases from their childhood. As in years past, boys from the Cherokee Creek Boys School will be on hand to ask questions of the storytellers.
The American Girls Club will meet at the OHC on the 6th of December beginning at 10:00 am in order to make handmade ornaments and decorate the tree for the afternoon program. Other decorations will be provided by Pamela Marcengill of Southern Designs.
The event will also feature special music presentations, including the Heritage String Band, and singing of Christmas Carols followed by refreshments. This year, for the first time, the Oconee Christmas Traditions will be broadcast live on WSNW and can be heard at 103.3 FM or 1150 AM. The Walhalla Christmas Parade will follow the program beginning at 5:00 pm on Main Street. The Oconee Christmas Traditions program is free and open to everyone, however, seating is limited.
