[ In Reports ]Lake Hartwell Fishing Report - August 21, 2009Bass fishing is picking up some as the night tournaments are starting to weigh in some better weights. It is taking ten to twelve pounds to win, but anglers are catching and losing some nice Bass.
[ In Cycling ]Tour de La France Bike Ride Saturday 9/5/2009The Tour de La France family bicycle ride will begin at La France Elementary School at 8 am. The ride to the Great Escape is 13.74 miles. The ride from the Great Escape the the Anderson County Farmers Market Pavilion is a further 1.8 miles.
[ In Hunting ]Deer season forecast good for 2009The much-anticipated start of the 2009 deer season is just around the corner and South Carolina’s deer population is healthy and the season outlook is good. Although the deer harvest has been on a downward trend the last few years indicating that population levels have moderated, hunter success and deer harvest rates remain good, according to Charles Ruth, DNR’s Deer/Turkey Project supervisor.

J. Strom Thurmond Project Office will conduct primitive weapon deer hunts in Bussey Point, located in Lincoln Co., Ga., in order to maintain the deer population within the carrying capacity for the area and to improve the quality of the herd. The 2,545-acre peninsula will be open for scheduled hunts on these dates:
[ In Hunting ]Clemson youth deer hunt registration ends Sept. 1The Fant's Grove Youth Deer Hunt is set for Saturday, Oct. 3 at Fant's Grove Wildlife Management Area near Clemson. A public drawing for the 22 slots on the deer hunt will be held at noon Tuesday, Sept. 8 at the Clemson office of the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) at 311 Natural Resources Drive near Clemson University. All interested applicants are welcome to attend the drawing.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Hartwell Lake Office announced some of its larger recreation areas on Hartwell Lake will open for archery hunters and small game hunting for the 2009-2010 Georgia and South Carolina states hunting season.
