Lake Hartwell Fishing Report - February 19, 2010

Bass fishing is slow and the water is still very cold and stained. Look for dying shad lake wide and use a small spoon or tube bait is silvers.

FLW Tournament South Cove Park 2/27/2010

Registration will begin on Friday evening in the Wal-Mart parking lot. FLW is estimating that we will have between 130 - 180 boats (that equates to 260 - 360 anglers!).

Lake Hartwell Fishing Report - February 5, 2010

The water is cold and the bite has been slow with the exception of some smaller spots that are roaming every point with rock and or wood. These small spots are fun to catch and by using the twin tail grub in the watermelon color can work after mid day.

COE to build mountain bike trail at Paynes Creek

The Hartwell Project received a $25,000 grant to install a multi-purpose trail in the Paynes Creek Campground area that will enhance mountain biking and recreational activities on the upper portion of Hartwell Lake and increase opportunities for bank fishing, hiking, and bird watching.

Shad are on the move out to the cleaner water and the bass are following. Try a small Shad Head Spin and add a small Zoom white ice Zoom Fluke as the trailer.

Lake Hartwell Fishing Report - January 22, 2010

Up in the rivers, anglers are using some hard baits, but mostly jigs and worms. Pick apart the wood cover, especially the stumps and brush piles in seven feet of water and deeper. This is somewhat productive, but the windy days make it difficult keeping the boat in place.

Bass fishing is as cold as the water. Stick with the spoons, jigs and small worms. Look for the bass in the mouths of the main lake and main river creeks. The lower lake creeks are fair and the smaller Dark Stanley jigs in black and silver with a small Uncle Josh trailer is fair but use them slowly

Lake Hartwell Fishing Report - January 8, 2010

Bass fishing is slow and there are not many angers out there. The water is very cold and the bass are biting a little later in the day with a warm up. Stay down lake and use worms and jigs. Fish the humps and points half way to the backs of the creeks.
