Published Oct 13, 2007

IVA, SC - The first 4-H Natural Resources Field Day is planned for 12-3 p.m., Saturday, October 13, at the Bowie Outdoor Education Center in Iva. The event is free and open to everyone. The purpose of the event is to provide families with a safe environment in which to learn more about the natural resource opportunities and activities available in their community and across the state.

The program includes dog retrieving demonstrations, fishing challenges, compass and pacing activities, nature-trail exploring, camouflage games, shooting practice stations and hunting ethics adventures. All programs will be hands-on and will allow each person to actively participate in the fun and action.

“Bring the entire family for some educational fun,” said Rick Willey, state 4-H natural resources specialist at Clemson University. “This event is part of the National 4-H Week activities and is a kick-off event to the South Carolina 4-H Centennial Celebration.”
