“We are also checking into the possibility of obtaining some redear sunfish (also called shell-cracker) fingerlings for Broadway Lake,” said Dan Rankin, Region 1 Fisheries Coordinator for SC DNR. “Additionally, we will target the production of approximately 15,000 largemouth bass fingerlings for stocking in spring 2010. SC DNR is happy to partner with Anderson County in the management of this important resource.”
“Seeing this project, which has been planned for more than a year, come to fruition is rewarding,” said Anderson County Councilwoman Gracie Floyd. “To finally see it come to pass through the grants we received is a great success. As we work through our list of projects, we are getting closer and closer to our goal of making Broadway Lake one of the finest recreational facilities in Anderson County.”
“This couldn’t have happened without the hard work put forth by Anderson County staff, said Anderson County Administrator Rusty Burns. “Steve Newton did a wonderful job in securing the resources to make this a reality.”
