LAKE HARTWELL IS FULL, 49 DEGREES, STAINED

Bass fishing is fair and with the current rains, anglers have stayed off the lake. But now is a great time to catch bass. Shad are on the move as fish feed often and fatten up for the spawn. Crank baits are a early spring time favorites especially in the off colored water. Swim baits like Sebiles, jerk baits by Rapala and War Eagle spinner baits all early spring baits. Start off by fishing the main river points and fish all the small cuts and bowls along the way. Do nothing clay banks are excellent places to fish active baits during the feeding periods. But keep the trolling motor on slow and cover every secondary point mid lake. The Fish and Game Forecaster has good feeding periods from 10am until 1pm Saturday and 11am until 2 pm Sunday.
