The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Hartwell Lake Office and the International Biking Association/Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association have received $25,000 to build a multipurpose trail in the campground area, according to a statement.

Issaqueena’s Last Ride is a challenging, mountain ride. The century features a cumulative elevation gain of about 8500 feet highlighted by the climb toward Whitewater Falls and Wigington Overlook.
COE to build mountain bike trail at Paynes Creek
The Hartwell Project received a $25,000 grant to install a multi-purpose trail in the Paynes Creek Campground area that will enhance mountain biking and recreational activities on the upper portion of Hartwell Lake and increase opportunities for bank fishing, hiking, and bird watching.
