CALHOUN FALLS, SC - Four South Carolina state parks were on the fifth-annual list of “Top 100 Family Campgrounds” just announced by ReserveAmerica.

They are Calhoun Falls State Recreation Area on Lake Russell, Dreher Island State Recreation
Area on Lake Murray, Hamilton Branch State Recreation Area on Lake Thurmond and Myrtle
Beach State Park.

The "Top 100 Family Campgrounds" were selected from nearly 3,000 parks reviewed by family
campers and were based on criteria that included park amenities, scenery and educational
facilities and were within 100 miles of a metro location.

• Top 15 Biking Trails: Baker Creek State Park, Paris Mountain State Park.
• Top 20 Park Beaches: Edisto Beach State Park, Huntington Beach State Park, Myrtle
  Beach State Park.
• Top 25 Hiking Trails: Caesars Head State Park, Kings Mountain State Park, Table Rock
  tate Park.
• Top 25 Picnic Areas: Paris Mountain State Park, Jones Gap State Park.
• Top 25 Fishing Spots: Santee State Park.
• Top 10 Romantic Spots: Huntington Beach State Park, Lake Greenwood State
  Recreation Area.
• Top 25 Canoeing Spots: Aiken State Natural Area, Colleton State Park, Givhans Ferry
  tate Park, N.R. Goodale State Park, Hunting Island State Park, Landsford Canal State
  Park.
• Top 20 Unique Cabins: Guillebeau House (Hickory Knob State Resort Park), Keowee-
  Toxaway State Natural Area, Santee State Park, Oconee State Park.
• Top 25 Bird-Watching Spots: Cheraw State Park, Caesars Head State Park,
  Huntington Beach State Park.
