The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a lake wind advisory from 12-8 p.m. today. Southwest winds are expected to increase through the day with sustained speeds around 20 mph and gusts to 35 mph. During the afternoon, windy conditions will generally affect locations along and southeast of the I-85 corridor, including lakes in the northeast Georgia and upstate South Carolina mountains.
A lake wind advisory indicates that winds will cause a rough chop on area lakes. Small boats will be especially prone to capsizing.
