The annual Furman University Learn-to-Sail course begins at Western Carolina Sailing Club in April. This program utilizes both classroom and on the water instruction by a US Sailing Certified Small Boat Instructor. Small sailboats provided. Cost is $169. Call 864-963-4706 for more information.
Learn the basics of sailing, a lifelong sport which knows no gender or age boundaries and can become a special activity for parent and teen. You will master the basic theory of how a sailboat works, then test that information by putting it into practice on the water at Western Carolina Sail Club on Lake Hartwell. Participants must provide their own life jackets, Coast Guard approved Type III. The textbook, "Start Sailing Right," may be purchased for $10.00 at the first class.
