Brown Road Boat Ramp to be Renovated

(Published Aug 4, 2007)

ANDERSON, SC - Brown Road boat ramp on Lake Hartwell will be closed for renovations from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 14, to Friday, September 14. It will be closed Monday-Friday each week, but open on weekends.

The ramp will be expanded by 5,340 square feet, adding a tie down area and additional parking - 12 parking spaces for boat trailers and 10 for cars.

In 2006, Anderson County received a grant in the amount of $30,000 from the SC Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism to support improvements at the Brown Road Boat Landing for expansion and upgrading of parking facilities at the boat ramp. Brown Road Boat Landing is one of the most utilized County-owned boat ramps.

“Hartwell Lake is a tremendous local resource that provides recreational activities for our citizens as well as attracts millions of visitors to our community,” County Administrator Joey R. Preston said. “Upgrades to the Brown Road Boat Ramp will not only meet current recreational needs, but will also support the County’s effort to better use Harwell Lake as an economic development tool.”

Striping and sign changes are planned to accommodate boat trailer maneuvering at the ramp. Contact Tina Rogers at trogers@andersoncountysc.org or (864) 260-4540 for more information.
