The Lake Lanier Association held its annual membership meeting on June 14, 2007 at the Lakeview Center, in Dawsonville.

This meeting marked the kickoff a 50 day event celebrating 50 years of recreation on Lake Lanier. The 50th Anniversary celebration of Lake Lanier will include tours of the Powerhouse at Buford Dam, fun runs, boat shows and other fun activities. Grand prizes will be awarded for several contests; historic photos and stories are being sought to commemorate the lake’s history and impact. US Army Corps of Engineers Brigadier General Joseph Schroedel was the guest speaker. General Schroedel fielded questions from the audience ranging from individual lot maintenance to dealing with terrorist threats against the lake. Watch the video of the entire event here (90 minutes)
