Kayaking on Keowee River above Lake Hartwell

We went to the Keowee River that feeds into Lake Hartwell. This is about 20-25 minutes from our home in Piedmont, SC. Near the Seneca/Clemson area. We put in at Lawrence Bridge ramp (which was actually closed for boats) (and difficult for kayaks!).We put in at about 2:30 in the afternoon and were tying the kayak back up at about 8:00pm...a long but awesome day!

Public Hearing Scheduled Regarding Boating Regulation Amendment

Members of the general public will have an opportunity to provide input at the following WRD-sponsored public hearing:Monday, September 15, 2008 (7 pm): Georgia Public Safety Center located in Forsyth, GA.

Proposed changes will establish a criminal violation for unauthorized persons who fail to obey markers or signs designating waters closed for exclusive use per permitted marine event.

DNR courtesy boating inspections Labor Day weekend

South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR) boating safety and enforcement officers will perform a quick, but thorough, inspection for items such as required safety equipment and proper boat and motor registration. Those who are not in compliance with safety regulations or registration requirements will not be ticketed during the complimentary inspections. Boaters will be given an opportunity to correct the problem before they launch.
