The 2007 sailing season officially got underway at Western Carolina Sailing Club on Hartwell lake Saturday, March 10, with the firing of the cannon during Commissioning Day. After returning to my home in Mauldin Saturday, I placed my sails, in their "sail bags," on the front porch, leaning against the house. The jib is in the blue bag and the mainsail in the black bag. By today, Monday, the state bird, a Carolina Wren, had built her nest on top of the end of the mainsail bag and against the jib bag resting beside it.
I am newly elected Captain of the Cruising Fleet at WCSC. How can I possibly go sailing now? She has been working on her nest this morning.
Western Carolina Sailing Club is a family oriented place which serves the community with benevolence, enjoying a harbor, docks and grounds and offering sailing lessons for people of all ages who share a common interest in the sport of recreational sailing, an activity which is healthy and friendly to the environment.
