TOCCOA, GA - Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas arrested Christopher Peter Harrison, 17 of Toccoa on June 17, 2008. Harrison was arrested without incident at his home in the Hunters Creek community. Authorities seized stolen property that was taken from the Hunters Creek Baptist church during the past three months.
Law Enforcement was able to link Harrison with incidents involving burglary, criminal damage to property and vandalism to a place of worship since 2004. Criminal damages to the local church exceeded $15,000.
In reported incidents, the methods involved vandalism to the interior and exterior of the church property which involved graffiti on walls, damages to classrooms, offices, office equipment, sound equipment, doors & windows and lighting.
Harrison has been charged with four counts of burglary and four counts of vandalism to a place of worship. Harrison also faces multiple charges as a juvenile because of prior criminal acts being committed at the age of 16 or under. Harrison was expected to have his first bond appearance on June 19, 2008, before a Franklin County Magistrate judge. Harrison is being held in the Franklin County Detention Center.
