Volunteers Needed for Seneca Action Groups

Published Jan 22, 2008

SENECA, SC - The City of Seneca needs your help. People of all ages from different backgrounds, walks of life, and experiences are needed to discuss possible solutions to common issues, form new relationships and networks, and come up with new ideas that will benefit the city as a whole.

The city hopes that people all over a neighborhood, organization, congregation, club or civic group, or school will meet in study circles and action groups. Groups will meet throughout the city to dialogue and share innovative and inclusive approaches to community problem solving.

The following volunteer positions are available:

  • Study Circle/Action Forum Participants - people who meet together for the purpose of seeking solutions and action ideas for the whole community.
  • Facilitators/Co-Facilitators - people who act as impartial guides and are great listeners. Facilitators help participants consider all sides of the issue, ensure a safe, and productive environment, and support the group’s process. A good facilitator is essential to the success of these groups.
  • Meeeting Organizers - people with primary responsibility for organizing meetings and recording results.
  • Sponsoring Coalition Members - the group of individuals and organizations committed to recruiting participants and supporting the ongoing initiative. This is a working group that will meeting regularly with the Seneca Planning commission over the next 2-14 months.

Please call Tamy Sanford, City Planner at 864-888-0878 or email her at planner@seneca.sc.us if you can be a part of this exciting endeavor.
