OCONEE, SC - Hot temperatures and lack of rainfall are creating a persistent drought condition and lower than normal lake levels for this time of year. Without widespread, substantial rainfall in the near term, lake levels on Lakes Keowee and Jocassee will continue to decline.
Please be aware of these conditions when out on the lake and take appropriate precautions.
As part of a comprehensive preventive maintenance program at Oconee, Duke Energy will lower Lake Keowee about seven feet below full pond (793¿ mean sea level) beginning in mid-October 2007. Please call the World of Energy, 1-800-777-1004, if you have questions about this work.
