VOSO - Voice Of South Oconee 12/3/2009

Join your fellow south Oconee County residents at the McPhail Angus farm* at 7pm on Thursday, December 3rd for an information forum hosted by VOSO. The subject will be the recent recommendation for sewers in south Oconee

No Oconee County Tax Rollback

In the face of claims by Nowell that Oconee citizens are being overtaxed, other councilmen, newly-elected Paul Corbeil specifically, have maintained that the problem is one of under-spending and not over-collecting. Statistics for fiscal 2007 show Oconee’s total expenditures were $39.7 million, or $7.5 million less than revenues.

UPSTATE FOREVER PROTECTION OF ROSE HILL FARMS

Rose Hill Farms includes seven tributaries of Oconee Creek along with access to the 50 foot high Lee Falls in Sumter National Forest. The privately owned tract, which was approved for funding by the SC Conservation Bank Board in June of 2008, is a scenic buffer and wildlife corridor that consists of beautiful rolling hills and steep ravines descending down into hayfields and pastures.
