Website Allows Comments on Georgia Water Plan

(Published Sep 5, 2007)

ATLANTA, GA - The Georgia Water Council has added an interactive website were visitors can review and make comments about the draft comprehensive statewide water management plan, "Georgia’s Water Resources: A Blueprint for the Future," (PDF, 9 megs).

On May 13, 2004, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue (pictured) signed legislation that charged the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD), with oversight from the Water Council, to develop the first Statewide Comprehensive Water Management Plan for Georgia. On June 28, 2007, the Environmental Protection Division (EPD) submitted the Draft Comprehensive Statewide Water Management Plan to the Water Council. The policies and practices outlined in the plan are designed so that the state’s water resources will be sustainably managed while supporting the state’s economy, protecting public health and natural systems, and enhancing the quality of life for all citizens of Georgia. We welcome you to the “virtual forum” in which the Water Council will receive public recommendations and comments as it finalizes the water management plan for Georgia. We hope you will join us and other interested parties in designing a water management plan that will guide the way toward a sustainable water future for Georgia.

This site is designed to help the Water Council solicit and compile public input in the development of a comprehensive water management plan for Georgia. Please click on the register image above to register and to learn more about the water management plan and how you can participate.

You will be required to register (one time only) in order to submit your comments as well as to be able to read comments submitted by others.
