The Hart County Humane Society is working hard to find solutions to the problem of homeless dogs and cats roaming about Hartwell and Hart County. The organization has placed over 100 animals in adoptive homes this year and currently has 100 more in its foster home network waiting to be adopted.
The non-profit group is seeking contributions from the public to help fund its efforts. The money raised goes toward the spaying and neutering of rescued animals and to pay other expenses of the animal adoption and foster-care programs. In addition, a portion of the contributions is being saved to stock the county’s future animal shelter with medical supplies and other necessities.
Contributions can be sent to the Hart County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1062, Hartwell, GA 30643. The Humane Society’s office, located at 839 E. Johnson St., is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. They can be found on the internet at
www.harthumane.org or reached by calling 706-436-5642.
The organization, which serves Anderson County, Elberton, Lavonia and Rouston as well as Hart County, is planning a big three-day adoption event at the PetSmart in Anderson, S.C., on Sept. 14-16. Please visit their website for more information on upcoming events.
