At Hartwell’s Cut Curl & Dye, It’s All About the Love
The only thing Teri Toney-Covington loves more than styling hair, which she has done for an amazing 33 years, is her customers.
“I love my customers tremendously,” declares the gregarious hairdresser, who has operated Cut Curl & Dye, Ltd. for 15 years in Hartwell. It’s a sentiment echoed by Ms. Toney-Covington’s faithful clientele, who revel in the shop’s “Steel Magnolias” vibe and the superb hair care they receive.
Ms. Toney-Covington praises her “great staff” and credits her long success to her tenacity for keeping abreast of current hair cutting techniques and styles. “Men, women, children – everyone’s welcome," she says. “Basic cuts, color jobs, anything at all, we can do it. And walk-ins are always welcome.”
Known for her untiring efforts to help better the Hartwell community, Ms. Toney-Covington is also an avid volunteer for Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children who suffer from long-term medical hair loss, in particular the auto-immune condition alopecia areata, which is incurable. Since 1998, the charity has helped restore the self-esteem and confidence of over two thousand youths by providing them with hair prosthetics created from donated human hair.
