Hart County board votes to lease land for fishing area

The Anderson Independent ( http://www.independentmail.com/ ) reported Tuesday May 26th that The Hart County Board of Commissioners voted to approve the lease of 35 acres from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for a fishing area on Hartwell Lake.

This action is of special concern to those of us who live in the Lake Hartwell area, because company officials have acknowledged this power plant expansion could actually double the consumption of water flow from the Savannah River, threatening Lake Hartwell’s water levels for years to come.

The Hartwell Regional Art Council is sponsoring the First Annual Hartwell Juried Quilt Show at the Art Center located at 338 E Howell Street, Hartwell, Georgia across from the courthouse.
