Lunch Bunch Program at Museum answers…
Where Have all our Moonshiners Gone?
Are you curious to find out what “popskull” is? Or where NASCAR’s roots lie? Then visit the Anderson County Museum at noon on Wednesday, November 19, as the “Brown Bag Lunch Bunch” speaker series welcomes author, historian and newspaperman Jerry Alexander.
Moonshine has a long association with Appalachia and the South. Mr. Alexander will discuss the truths and lies surrounding moonshiners in the upstate. He is the former owner of the Pickens Sentential as well as the author of “The Cateechee Story,” “Living, Loving, Working and Dying in 1828-1868 Antebellum old Pickens District, S.C.” and “Where have all our Moonshiners Gone?”
The program will begin promptly at noon and conclude by 12:45 p.m. Don’t forget to bring a brown bag lunch. The Museum will supply drinks.
The Anderson County Museum is at 202 East Greenville Street, in downtown Anderson. Gallery and Museum store hours are Tuesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Reading and Research Room is open 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursdays and by appointment. Admission is free and donations are always welcome. For more information, contact the Anderson County Museum at (864) 260-4737.
