Recycling in Anderson

ANDERSON, SC - The City of Anderson encourages voluntary recycling efforts. Anderson County operates sixteen convenience centers for residential use, two of which are located in the vicinity of the City of Anderson. The Civic Center Convenience Center, located at Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and Woodcrest Drive, is open 8 a.m.-6 p.m., seven days a week. The White Street Convenience Center, located on White Street adjacent to the Anderson Memorial Stadium, is open 8am-6pm, Monday-Saturday.

The convenience centers accept as recyclables: aluminum cans; steel cans; green, brown and clear glass; plastics #1 and #2; cellular phones; mixed paper; newspaper; cardboard (no waxed coating); used motor oil, bottles and filters; lead car and truck batteries; ink-jet cartridges.

Anderson County Environmental Services also operates a Recycling Education Center located on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd across from the Anderson Civic Center/Sports and Entertainment Complex. The Recycling Education Center includes a resource facility with instructional materials, detail grass plots, butterfly garden, meeting space and an open-air covered pavilion for larger classes and demonstrations.
