ANDERSON, SC - Anderson County Transportation Division will close a portion of Crestview Road beginning Tuesday, June 10th in order to replace a large culvert. Crestview Road will be closed to traffic from SC 81 to Vandiver Road. Only adjacent residents, residents of Stratton subdivision and delivery vehicles will be permitted within the road closure area. The official detour will follow SC 81 and Vandiver Road. Construction completion is anticipated by Friday, August 15th. If the project is completed earlier than expected, the road will be re-opened as soon as possible.
The existing box culvert and curve at Stratton subdivision has been the site of numerous run-off accidents over the years. County crews will replace the culvert, straighten the curve, add super-elevation to the curve, remove large trees near the road and add shoulder-width through the project area. These actions will help to reduce the accidents in the area and provide a safer driving experience on Crestview Road.
The project timeline was scheduled to avoid interfering with various school traffic including Hanna High School and Midway Elementary School. Drivers near the construction area are asked to be cautious of our maintenance workers and equipment and to obey all construction signs and flagging operations. The Anderson County Roads and Bridges department is proud of its low accident record and wants to maintain these same high quality safety standards. The public can help keep this project accident free.
