Special Olympics 2009 Fall Games October 23-25

The weekend’s festivities will begin on Friday evening with the Parade of Athletes and the lighting of the Special Olympics Flame, which officially opens the 2009 Fall Games. Competitions, which include soccer, tennis, golf, volleyball, flag football, bocce and roller skating, begin on Saturday morning. Venues for the competitions are Anderson Sports & Entertainment Center, Cobb’s Glenn Golf Course and Skateland USA

The proposed 32,000-square-foot center would be constructed on 21 acres adjoining the Anderson Joint Regional Water System property. It would feature exhibits related to the lake, have fishing piers, boat access, walking trails and an outdoor amphitheater.

OCONEE, PICKENS AND ANDERSON COUNTIES FORGE PARTNERSHIP

ANDERSON COUNTY –- On Friday, June 19th, leaders from the Tri-County area met to discuss the effects of the economic downturn on our region and to forge a partnership focused on mutually beneficial collaboration and joint economic development. Council Chairmen from Oconee, Pickens and Anderson Counties met with Tri-County Technical College President Ronnie Booth and Tri-County Vice President for Economic Development John Lummus with the mission to form a cohesive vision for the economic advancement of the Tri-County region and to work toward resolution of issues dealing with the Tri-county Landfill.
