ANDERSON COUNTY –- On Friday, June 19th, leaders from the Tri-County area met to discuss the effects of the economic downturn on our region and to forge a partnership focused on mutually beneficial collaboration and joint economic development. Council Chairmen from Oconee, Pickens and Anderson Counties met with Tri-County Technical College President Ronnie Booth and Tri-County Vice President for Economic Development John Lummus with the mission to form a cohesive vision for the economic advancement of the Tri-County region and to work toward resolution of issues dealing with the Tri-county Landfill.
Anderson County 4-H to offer 4-H2O water-quality program for ages 9-13
Hartwell Lake serves as the classroom, while pontoon boats allow the participants to leave the shoreline. The goal of the program is to educate youths about water quality, conservation and stewardship through a variety of hands-on activities. The cost of the program is $45, which includes a notebook, T-shirt, materials and snacks.
Anderson County residents advised to be wary of wild animals
An Anderson man who was recently bitten by a fox is under the care of a physician after the fox tested positive for rabies, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control reported.
Matty's Downtown Sounds
Matty's Downtown Sounds, a free Music Event comes to Anderson every Thursday (6:00 - 9:00) from April 2,2009 to August 27, 2009. Music will range from oldies and beach to blues and soul. AJC One Tank Trips - Anderson, SC -
To celebrate its proximity to Lake Hartwell, the city of Anderson has put its own spin on the trend of town mascots. Thirty-six 6-foot-tall fiberglass fish (largemouth bass, to be exact) have been decorated by area artists and installed through the downtown area, demonstrating that there’s more to this Scots-Irish-founded town than its hard-working manufacturing base.
