ANDERSON, SC - The City of Anderson Police Department has provided the following tips for preventing automobile-related crimes. Due to the increase in auto break-ins, it is very important to remember some very basic tips. Vehicles are entered unlawfully and pilfered, as well as, broken into and personal items are stolen. Citizens are constantly in a hurry and neglect to lock their vehicle doors, thus becoming victims.
Even if you are only parked for a short period of time at a business or in your own driveway, please lock your vehicle doors and do not leave valuables, in plain view. In some cases, windows were broken to gain entry, but most criminals do look for the "easy" targets first, such as unlocked vehicles with valuables in plain sight.
Help spread the word continously to other city residents in your neighborhoods, businesses, churches, and other organizations to be vigilant and help reduce auto-breaking numbers.
