WALHALLA — Authorities say a North Carolina man who could not swim has drowned in a South Carolina lake.
Multiple media outlets reported that 21-year-old Gilberto Presa-Gonsalez, of Cashiers, N.C., drowned near an area known as "The Rock" in Lake Keowee 7/26 after a wave knocked him off of a sandbar and into deeper water. Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis says the drowning was accidental.
Authorities think Presa-Gonsalez was wading in water with friends when the wave threw him off balance.
