The Labor Day holiday weekend is considered the last blast of summer and one of the busiest weekends of the year on state waters. Boaters who choose to participate in the free inspections may do so at designated landings where the inspections are offered. It only takes a few minutes and will make your day safer and more enjoyable on the water.

Carters Ferry & Cleveland ramps temporarily close for repaving
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Hartwell Lake Office will temporarily close the Carters Ferry and Cleveland boat ramps and parking areas in Hart County beginning August 23 for repaving. Weather permitting, these areas should re-open August 28.Visitors displaced during this time are encouraged to use nearby recreation areas. Triple Crown Watercross 8/14/2010 SCHEDULE
This two day event will consist of personal watercrafts battling handle bar to handle bar on the lake’s typically quiet waters. The event will bring competitors one step closer in determining who will become the next national winner of the UWP-IJSBA Watercross National Championship. Lake Hartwell's proximity to major cities such as Atlanta, Greenville and Charlotte should attract a large number of spectators and athletes. Typically, between 200 and 250 athletes come to compete and they bring additional people with them.

Jocassee Turbines to be Replaced
They will be hauled to the Jocassee power station using a 20-axle, dual-lane trailer that is about 250 feet long snarling traffic along the interstates and in the Lake Jocassee area.
Lake Hartwell expected to drop
Gate repairs currently being made at Thurmond and Russell Dams are reqiring increased outflows to maintain river levels. That, combined with the fact that the upcoming months of August, September, and October are normally the driest months of the year means that without some unusually heavy rainfall events, we can anticipate Hartwell Lake to recede for the next several months.
Tugaloo State Park Mega-Ramp Dedication Ceremony 7/13/2010
The Tugaloo State Park Mega-Ramp, one of the projects being partially funded by the Georgia state portion of the Schlumberger PCB settlement, will be dedicated in a public event this week.
