At the moment Lake Hartwell is at a level of 655.36' or within 4-2/3 feet of full pool. The latest Corps projection released Wednesday 5/6/2009 shows Lake Hartwell rising another 1-2/3 foot to over 657' (i.e.: within 3' of full pool) in late June.
One of the Corps Guidelines has been to keep Lake Hartwell and Lake Thurmond in balance. That is: If Lake Hartwell is 3 feet down we would expect to see Lake Thurmond 3 feet down as well. The current projection shows the two lakes out of balance (With Lake Hartwell being down more than Thurmond) by about 1 foot until mid June.
Obviously projections are merely educated guesses but they are the best information we have to go on. The net result, plan to move your dock in as the water continues to rise.
