Boating Courses and Meetings

The following boating courses, offered by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will be held at the COE office located 1 mile south of the dam on US 29. All are at 9am to 4 pm on the dates indicated. To reserve a seat call Jim Rudy at 864-972-2085, or Glenn Barbee at 706-376-0096.

  • America’s Boating Course, $30 4/21/07
  • America’s Boating Course, $30 5/19/07 (Revised)

Boating courses are also offered by the GA Dept. of Natural Resources and will be held at the COE office located 1 mile south of the dam on US 29. These are 6 hour courses from 9 am to 4 pm on the dates indicated. Participants must be at least 12 years old. Classes are limited to 25 students. To register contact GA DNR at 770-535-5499, Billy Birdwell at 912-652-5014, or Jeanne Hodge at 912-652-5770.

The dates are Feb 17, Mar 31, Apr 28, May 12, and June 23. There is no fee.

Boat Smart Course for Power & Sail Boaters. Begins April 3, with classes April 3, 10, 16, and final exam April 24. For all the details click here.
