CARTERSVILLE, GA - Become a Georgia Adopt-A-Stream Trainer and a Healthy Water, Healthy People Facilitator in one workshop, September 28-29, 9 a.m.– 5 p.m., each day, at Red Top Mountain State Park and Lodge, 50 Lodge Rd SE, Cartersville, GA 30121.
Join Adopt-A-Stream (AAS) and Project WET in this workshop designed for certified chemical and biological volunteers*. Upon completion of the workshop, participants will become certified AAS trainers, qualified to teach both biological and chemical water quality monitoring workshops, as well as certified Healthy Water, Healthy People (HWHP) facilitators, qualified to teach HWHP Educator Workshops. The purpose of the HWHP program is to raise the awareness and understanding of water quality topics and issues and their relationship to personal, public, and environmental health. HWHP facilitators are asked to conduct one educator workshop per year in order to retain certification. AAS trainers are asked to conduct at least one QA/QC workshop each year and participate in annual recertification training. You may choose to conduct your future workshops as combined QA/QC and HWHP, or you may provide separate workshops.
If you are not Adopt-A-Stream QA/QC certified, but would like to attend this workshop, please contact Allison Hughes, AAS Coordinator.
Participants in this two-day, hands-on workshop will receive the Healthy Water, Healthy People Educators Guide, the HWHP Testing Kit Manual, a HWHP Facilitator Handbook, Georgia Adopt-A-Stream Train the Trainer Handbook and all Georgia Adopt-A-Stream Publications, as well as networking opportunities with other AAS enthusiasts and environmental educators. Formal educators may receive 1 PLU credit for attending this workshop. Meals and lodging will be the responsibility of each participant and are not included in the registration fee of $40 for EEA members or $45 for non-members. For lodging reservations, contact Red Top Mountain Lodge at 800-573-9658 ext. 403. Meals will be available in the Red Top Mountain dining room.
