SANDY SPRINGS, SC - Denver Downs Farm and the Garrison Family presents their 5th annual maze and pumpkin patch on Saturdays and Sundays during October. The spotlight for the "Fall Fun Days" surrounds the family activities we have, including our Giant Pumpkin Patch, animals, hay rides and corn maze.
Experience the mind-boggling puzzle that is sure to provide a unique source of good farmin' fun for adults and children alike. Though the correct pathway can be walked in only 30 minutes, most wandering maze-goers will require about one hour to travel through more than two miles of twists, turns, and decision points. The maze is designed in the spirit of fall with scarecrow outline peaking out of the corn.
This years maze opened later than usual because of the severe drought this summer.
For over 30 years school children have toured Denver Downs Farm learning that milk and cereal just don't appear on the grocery store shelf. Since the dairy cow heard was sold in 1994, the school tours have transformed into family fun Agri-tourism events.
Over nine acres of corn are planted each fall to create a "maze". For 2007, Denver Downs is working in conjunction with the South Carolina Department of Agriculture to promote the Certified South Carolina program. The Department of Agriculture's program is designed to create awareness of South Carolina grown agricultural products (like we sell at our Farm Market). This campaign is the theme of this year's maze design. Due to the summer drought, this year's 10 acre maze is not very tall.
