"Fish the Fall" Tournament EndsThe "Fish the Fall" bass tournament on Lake Hartwell and other lakes concluded its regular season April 28 on Lake Russell with Mark Smith and Scott Jeter finishing as the points leader and a $6,245 purse with only 22 boats on the water. The championship will be May 25-26 on Lake Greenwood.

I’m a typical Anderson resident, proud of the silent behemoth in our community but uncertain of what it means in everyday life. Most of us take it for granted or don’t happen to own a boat. Meanwhile, people drive up from Atlanta or down from places like Greenville and Charlotte to enjoy the lake.

Sailing for the PublicSailing is a popular spring and summer sport in the Upstate. Western Carolina Sailing Club, filled with sailboats of all sizes, lies in a huge harbor along the shores of hartwell Lake. Once each year the club opens wide it's docks to the public so families and friends can enjoy a full, free day of sailing with competent Skippers, learning to sail, a tour of the grounds and docks and a grilled cookout for lunch.
