Freedom Weekend Aloft in Simpsonville, SC, are scheduled to take flight this evening. There may be hot air balloon competitive flights on several mornings, and while the event will not be open for morning competitions, the hot air balloons will be visible from any locations in relatively close proximity to Heritage Park.

Challenge of the CenturiesThe
Challenge of the Centuries will be Saturday-Sunday, May 25-26, beginning and ending in Hartwell, Georgia, adjacent to Lake Hartwell and the Georgia/South Carolina border. Loops traverse rolling back country roads with picturesque scenery and minimum traffic. Loops are 35, 62, and 100 miles. Open to cyclists and accomplished skaters.

Town Hall Meetings On Statewide Water PlanThe Water Council has scheduled a third series of town hall meetings around the state to discuss the statewide water planning effort and to give citizens an opportunity to ask questions and offer comments on this important project. These meetings will focus on integrated policies for water quantity and water quality as well as introduce sub-state planning guidance.

Freedom Weekend Aloft was hosted in Anderson, homeowners and visitors on and near Lake Hartwell could enjoy the sights of ballonists floating across the lake and landing in yards and fields. Some people would even help ground and pack them. But now that it'll be hosted in Simpsonville, the LakeFrontHartwell area will be ballon free this Memorial Day Weekend. However, the entertainment will continue on and anyone wishing to attend can plan to do so anytime Friday, May 25-Monday, May 28.
