Hartwell Hikers to Hike Dukes Creek Falls

HELEN, GA - The Hartwell Hikers have a trip planned for Wednesday, July 27, to Dukes Creek Falls near Helen, GA. The 2.2 mile roundtrip hike is easy but has some uphill grade on the return.

The path is well maintained, so it is suitable for all levels. Bring a lunch and water.

Hikers will meet at Bell's Shopping Center in Hartwell to arrange for carpools and will leave promptly at 9 a.m. There are no dues or rules in order to join the group, and the only expense is a contribution toward gas for the drivers.

  • Dukes Creek Falls
    A majestic waterfall located just north of Helen. Falls drops 150 feet down a sheer granite canyon into Dukes Creek. Scenic beauty and gold panning opportunities. Dukes Creek Falls trail leads to the bottom of a gorge, where the air is cooled by the misty spray from the waterfalls. Several pools formed from the cold water tumbling down 250 feet provide a welcome relief for wary hikers.
  • Dukes Creek Recreation Area-CNF
    Located in thge Chattooga Ranger District, the Dukes Creek Falls (300") plummet into a scenic gorge. The falls can be viewed from several observation points that are reached by a 1-mile trail. Hiking and fishing.
