The 11th Annual Polar Bear Plunge, benefitting Heart Haven, a shelter for victims of domestic violence in Elbert, Franklin and Hart counties, sponsored by the Northeast Georgia Council on Domestic Violence, will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 24, at Hart State Park in Hartwell, GA. For information call Carrie at 706-377-4884 or Faye at 706-376-5825. Approximately $21,000 was raised in 2006 and attracted over 50 plungers.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. The Parade of Plungers and a costume contest is at 12:30 p.m. The plunge begins at 1 p.m. The cost to plunge is a $125 donation to the cause. Early registration forms are available at area merchants and should be turned in by Feb. 19.
