Arts Advocacy Day - Art as Economic Development
Artists, craft makers, community leaders, tourism & economic development representatives and art advocates across the Southeast are invited to attend Arts Advocacy Day: Art as Economic Development at the Oconee Civic Center in Watkinsville, Georgia on February 1, 2007 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Fran Redmon, manager of the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program, is our keynote speaker. The Program is a division of the Kentucky Arts Council, an agency of the Commerce Cabinet and a model for craft marketing programs across North America. Its involvement in Kentucky's cultural tourism projects, statewide craft initiatives, and new product development initiatives provide marketing opportunities, both regionally and nationally, to Kentucky craft makers.
Bruce Green, Product Development Manager at the Georgia Dept of Economic Development; Dr. Judy Taylor, VP of Economic Development at North Georgia Tech; Kathy Chappelle, Tina McCullough and Camille Ronay, partners in Georgia Art By the Mile; and Jerry Chappelle, co-owner of the artists' incubator Happy Valley Pottery will also lend their expertise at Arts Advocacy Day in their sessions on creating marketing venues for artists and craft makers.
