ANDERSON, SC - Main Street Events, Inc. a Greenville-based festival and event Production Company has announced the plans for the 2nd Annual “BARRETT-MARCIE PROPERTIES DOWNTOWN SOUNDS, presented by the Anderson Independent Mail and Upstate Automotive”, a weekly music event to be held in Downtown Anderson, SC. The event is scheduled for April 3rd, and will continue through August (with the exception of July 3rd) to complete a 21-week schedule.
“The first edition of Downtown Sounds was a great success in our eyes, and we believe that the community enjoyed their time with us in downtown Anderson,” stated Byron K. Rucker, Executive Director of Main Street Events. “Any time you operate an event for the first time, you want to listen to the patrons, and make whatever changes will best serve the event from all angles. The type of music we booked was a big hit, and we saw a lot of folks coming back to downtown for the first time in years. A lot of great things have happened downtown, and we are very proud to be a small part of the resurgence.”
“Barrett-Marcie Properties Downtown Sounds” will be staged on the plaza in front of the new Anderson County Courthouse from 6:00-9:00pm each Thursday evening from April 3rd through August 28th. Barrett-Marcie Properties, creators and builders for the Chiquola Condos have agreed to terms for a 3-year title sponsorship of the event. Bill Marcie, is responsible for the re-vitalization of the Chiquola Hotel that is adjacent to the event site, and is committed to the Downtown Anderson re-development trend. Along with his partner, John Barrett, additional properties in Anderson will be refurbished over the next few years. “We see this event as a strong drawing card for the re-development future of Downtown Anderson”, stated Bill Marcie. “The partnership with Main Street Events in bringing a proven entertainment offering to Anderson is exciting for our company and I see this as a continuing trend in Anderson, just as our development efforts will contribute to the future success of business in the downtown area.”
Downtown Sounds is owned and operated by Main Street Events, but will be supported by the City of Anderson and Anderson County. The full slate of entertainment has also been contracted (see attached schedule) and will include a variety of music, from oldies, beach, blues, soul, and southern rock. The entertainment acts will come from the local region (Greenville, Asheville, Charleston, etc.) and from as far away as Australia. MSE organizes all elements of the event, including entertainment, volunteers, marketing, finance and operations. Along with the Anderson Independent Mail, Upstate Automotive has agreed to serve as presenting sponsors, andwill be joined in support of the event by Carolina Beer Company, Ben Arnold Beverages (including a partnership with Biltmore Estates Winery), Pepsi, MY102.5 (WMYI-FM), Penske, the City of Anderson, Anderson County and the Anderson Joes. Other corporate partners are in on-going discussions to join the event, and additional corporate partners are welcomed.
Main Street Events, Inc. owns and operates Countybank Main Street Jazz, AT&T Red, White and Blue, as well as Downtown Sounds in Anderson, SC. MSE has management contracts with St. Francis Fall for Greenville, Artisphere International Arts Festival, Downtown Alive, Anderson Soiree, Anderson Downtown Chili Cook-off, Greer Family Fest, Greer Station Oktoberfest, USA Professional Cycling Championships, and Wheels for Meals Cycling Fundraiser. MSE is also engaged in consulting roles with other markets throughout the eastern part of the U.S.
